Camp attendees will confirm their registration status, store their luggage in the designated area and eat breakfast while others check in.

Introduction of Camp Counselors and House Rules/Team Assignments

Introduction of camp leaders, review of camp house rules, and attendees will be split into different teams. (basis of team assignments pending)

9:30-10:30am

Session 1: Puja Procedures

Interactive learning experience of the meanings and proper procedures for our basic Hindu rituals.

10:30-11:30am

Session 2: Indian History

Interactive learning activity for major figures in Indian and Bengali history who have had an impact on our culture.

11:30-12:30pm

Session 3: Bengali Literature & Cinema

 Bengali poetry and literature reading and discussion.
Movie: ‘Hirak Rajar Desh’

Snack Time

Bengali snack foods such as Muri Makha

Session 4: Indian Music

Interactive discussion about Indian and Bengali song and music as well as live demonstrations with Indian & Bengali instruments such as the tabla and dhak.

Cricket, Kabbadi, Soccer, Touch Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Basketball

Campers will begin the morning with a refreshing and uplifting yoga session.

Motivational Speaker

A motivating discussion with a fellow Bengali youth covering topics such as school life, the pressures of age transitioning, as well as goal and character development.

11:00-12:00pm

Session 5: Indian Science and Math

An interactive session with live science demonstrations and a discussion on Indian mathematicians and scientists along with their achievements.

12:00-1:00pm

Session 5: Keeping Bengali Pride

A discussion about the stereotypes and unique challenges that Bengali youths face growing up in America, and a chance to express their opinions and emotions on these controversial topics.

2:00-3:30pm

Durga Bari Quiz Bowl

A trivia style game that tests the knowledge retained from the information sessions during the camp.

3:30-4:30pm

Indoor Games

The final burst of energy and fun for the weekend. We will probably finish off the camp with an indoor game of kabbadi as tradition upholds!

4:30-5:00

Awards Ceremony

Camp attendees will be presented with a certificate for participation as well as other prizes and awards that they may have earned over the course of the weekend. Also, the winner of the Durga Bari Quiz Bowl will be announced and trophies will be given to the winning team.
